Attaining certification is one of the best ways for employees to show
their credentials. Many non-certified employees are missing out on
potential promotions after obtaining the proper certifications. Taking
the initiative to get certified by companies such as Microsoft, Cisco,
Linux, or CompTIA may show management a willingness to improve and
perfect skills. After getting certified, most employees can expect
a significant raise in their salaries.
Unemployed workers and college graduates hunting for jobs may find
gaining certification as one of the best ways to get a head start
on their career. Getting certified may bring about some hidden talents,
leadership skills, and prove a higher level of discipline while undergoing
the certification process. Employers are also given more knowledge
about capabilities by using the certification as a rubric in assessing
an employee’s level of knowledge in any particular field. Moreover,
certification raises your income level by at least 10% as you would
have gotten w/o certification.
To illustrate implications of salary surveys, GIT has
examined several resources and the results show that
certified employees have considerably higher salaries
than prior to certification. A study conducted by Fairfield
Research and Certification Magazine shows that getting
certified can lead to a 12% increase in salary or close to
a $6,000 raise!
* Comp TIA A+ gives an 11.1% increase!
* MCSE gives a 12.6% increase!
* CCNA gives a 16.7% increase!
Multiple certifications directly correlate to pay increases.
With one certification, the average pay was $53,000, with
five certifications, it is $62,000, with ten, and the average
pay was $75,000.
*The average Oracle Professional earned $67,294 per year.
*The average Linux Professional earned $64,111 per year.
